BECAUSE
YOU ARE ECOLOGICAL.

A spatial interpretation of Timothy Morton “All Art is Ecological”.
This project is a spatial interpretation of a deep philosophical engagement with ecology, debated by Timothy Morton in his book „All Art is Ecological“. This intervention explores how architecture can make us [humans] aware of our entanglement and symbiosis with our environment.

With the beginning of agriculture and settlement we entered a cycle of self-maintenance, progress and exploitation. We slowly forgot about our symbiotic state and drew a distinction between the human and the non-human.
The prospect of this cycle leading to global warming, leading to mass extinction had my thoughts enter a rabbit-hole labled „This planet would be a better place without us!“ And this might be true, if we had never stepped a foot on this earth. But we are included in the environment as one species among others. We have become entangled with the earth systems in a way that does not allow us to just get out. If we destroy our habitat and go extinct, numerous lifeforms are about to die out as well.

This spacial sequence is an attempt to reawake the feeling of attunance, of a sort of mind-melt with our environment, that might make us remember how much we are part of the whole.
